Halloween Costume of the Year

Best costume of the year plus most disturbing night I've had in quite awhile. When was the last time you had a 5 hour long out of body experience, seeing yourself elsewhere in a room over and over again?

Thankfully I was dressed as someone or else we might of had a Back to the Future style space time continuum breakdown from running into my other self.

Seasonal Effective Disorder

This week I've been questioning the reality of the afforementioned affliction. I know I always hit a winter slump, a point when being outside is uncomfortable and motorcycling for pleasure is all but nonexistant. The later aspect for me is the biggest, especially since I do so much riding when it is warm. Knowing that I can't crank it up and go without proper attire and discomfort is a big downer.

Visually I enjoy the winter months more. The overall outdoor ascetic is more pleasurable and there is the lack of heat haze you get in the summer, speaking of which, the warmer southern months in the south are not without their own level of physical torment. 90 and 100 plus degree days when you sweat out more liquid than you can possibly drink and even the shade only bring so much relief.

The times in between the two extremes are best and it is also nice when we get the out of season winter "heat wave" that is unexpected and pleasant. 80's in October, crazy.

The more I've been monitoring Craigslist, the more I crave an older motorcycle. I look at the cool old shit for sale and it is hard not to want it. Something to keep my idle hands busy during the winter Saturdays when I can't be outside would be great.

Off to a good start...

Met up with the boys last night and killed it at Metro Bistro. Small but enthusiastic crowd of friends and neighbors (literally). Played hard and late, the crowd went ape shit for the Van Halen stuff, which makes us really happy.

After the show we hit the Vestavia Waffle house. Our waiter was great, he put up with our crap, foul language and joking around. Chael was looking at the jukebox and he asked Chael to play "Black Magic Woman" for him which resulted in two back to back plays of "Bad" by Michael Jackson. We learned that the jukebox apparently has an asshole sensor and only played 2 of the 6(!) times he paid for. All the same, hilarity.
The waiter, not to be outdone, really did it up when I told him I wanted hash browns all the way, and I meant all the way, kitchen sink, the whole bit. They arrived with a healthy helping of white gravy on top. It's all good, I douse those things with WH salsa, Tabasco, and Heinz 57 anyways and the gravy was a nice touch.
Add to this that now when we go out as a band in public we tell people we're Maroon 5 and again, our great sport of a waiter started telling other tables that Maroon 5 was in the house. I also repeatedly referred to him as Stephen which wasn't even close to his name.
Before leaving Brian added a couple more plays of "Bad" to the box and topped it off with "Sugar Shack" for good measure. We avoided any Waffle House songs, even we have standards.

Today I slept in. After getting my wits about me, 'livi and grabbed some coffee and headed for the Pumpkin Patch in Clanton. The weather was perfect and this was a great, great family time. Ruby ran around and got in to everything, playing in the hay, grabbing the pumpkins and having a blast. We got some great shots of her including one with a full dress Indian.
We ate nachos and funnel cake and shared a table with some locals who also had kids. It was all around a great time.

We went ahead and got a jump on Sunday, grabbing a couple carts full of perishables at Costco and Target. Tonight we're hosting some friends for dinner and drinks. Right now the ladies are watching the Auburn game as the 2nd male counterpart of this foursome is yet to arrive.

Tomorrow if 'livi and I's two year anniversary. We're going to have a day on the town. A run to 2nd and Charles, dinner and a movie. Weekends like this are rad and too few and far between. It is rare to get a little bit of everything you love. The only missing piece is a motorcycle ride...and I may have to squeeze that in tomorrow just on principal.

My Lawsuit Against Danger Close, Dice, and EA

Skeleton in my closet, some time ago I did some male modeling. Not proud of it but I needed the money, I was in a pinch. I was paid for my time and services and signed a limited release for my use of the photos and nothing ever came of them. I was assured by my manager I had no future in the industry.

Flash forward to this afternoon, where I see this...

Bastards, how dare they use my image after all this time with no notice, no alert, no fanfare. Naturally I felt violated, slightly, and overall...depressed as I am 2 generations behind current as consoles go and won't be able to play the free copy THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO SEND ME.

My attorney says that I have no case as their release is air tight not to mention they have deeper pockets and any effort to fight may bankrupt my family and I should just be happy for the notoriety this will bring and maybe I should contact Game Stop about doing cover box signings.

Man he doesn't know me very well.
I signed the paperwork for the second mortgage this afternoon...game on Danger Close, Dice, EA et al. Your cheat codes won't help you in the courtroom bitches!

Doing my part and idiots at the wheel

It was breakdown Friday on my way home from work today. The first, a teenager in an AMC Javelin with a clogged fuel filter on a four lane that connects 150 to Shades Crest. He used the Flathead on my multitool to remove the offender and then blew it out and then reconnected the line. The car had to be jumped so thankfully his female friend was there and had cables, which he had no clue how to use. Just a couple tips, if you drive an AMC Javelin, at the least carry a small tool set and learn how to use jumper cables.
The second was a Buick Park Avenue on Shades crest not two miles from the AMC. I pulled up next to the driver who was on the cell phone. I asked if he had gas and if he needed a push out of the road. He started to say that it wouldn't start, only do this...but when he turned the key the car started fine and he was able to get out of the road. Score two for roadside assistance.
Unfortunately for me, everybody else on the road was a jackass. I watched an SUV empty fast food trash from their floorboard by kicking it out the door, was not yielded to while going straight twice, and was the victim of a near rear end by someone texting when I was going to turn. Not to mention the fact that nobody signals anymore. My small peace of mind comes in the fact that I am a firm believer in karma. The only bad thing is it is rare that you get to see it in action. I am waiting for someone to invent the karma-cam...
