Sunday Morning
Started about 9am. Plan was to change the rear brake pads and remedy the seat situation on the shovel. Old pads out, new pads in, no problem. Brakes feel much more solid. In terms f the seat, if you look at older pictures of the bike, you'll notice the front of the seat just sat up. There was never a bracket holding the front down so if you weren't on it, it just hung out there. I made a bracket to bolt into the seat pan and hold the front of the seat to the frame.

For such a minor change, I think it drastically changed the line of the bike. To me, the seat always stuck out like a sore thumb and now it looks much better.

You can see in the closeup it is still raw and unpainted. I have a few more things I am going to fab up and then I will paint it all at once. Shame, today would have been a good day for it. I got my hands on a peanut tank from a buddy and mocked it up but I am not sold on it. The "porkster" tank is growing on me. The "This is my scene" video that went viral a few months ago has been in my head and making my want to not do what everyone else has done before and if nothing else, the tank is different. We'll see...
Soundtrack for the morning:

Spike Jones- Greatest Hits
Minibossses: Brass
(thanks Jeff)

Well...
I rode more this weekend and yesterday and I think the rear brake will work for now. Both the front and rear will sink and lose pressure so I need to bleed them both or possibly even rebuild the master cylinders or fearing the worst...get new brake lines if they are compromised. Later this week I am going to start working on some of the other touches I have in my head at which point I will have to get some pictures...
By the way, looking back at Liza...maybe this one will help show you why this picture was a stand out to me.

Its Indian Larry and English Don...

Thursday
I relocated the high beam/low beam switch...and more importantly got the headlight working again.
Dale (thanks for the help buddy) and I took the rear tire down and cut part of the rear brake bracket off and now the assembly clears the frame, so my rear end issue should be (knock on wood) fixed. If not...plan B and a call to Fabricator Kevin.
I didn't take any pictures because I'm worthless...but I'll put this one up. You tell me if you notice anything special or familiar.

Nashville
Sunday a buddy and I traveled to Nashville to kick around. Nashville is a cool little city with more than a day's worth of stuff to see. We got there in time for lunch. Got to love a restaurant with an on-site brewery.

Nashville is packed to the gills with touristy attractions, some free and some not. We took advantage of the free ones. Like this one...

The Ryman was free to get into, but not to tour. But they had this...

$13 for a self guided tour...I think not.

Gruhn Guitars. Closed on Sundays, but looked good from the outside.

Proper attire for attending a "honor your handshake" land negotiation? Local sports team t-shirt...

When it was time to eat again, we got beers and burgers at an Irish pub whose name I can't remember. It smelt like sewage and the bartender looked like she hadn't been fed in a month...it was awesome. They were coming off a busy weekend and were out of everything but burgers...and they had fries but no ketchup. They kept running out of beers and the bartender kept her cool and shut down a couple of assholes like a real pro. The kitchen got my order wrong so she had them fix it...and then comped ALL of our beers. Like I said, this girl was a pro and knew how to angle for the tip.
The day was fun, but pretty uneventful...
did I mention we f'ing saw Rush live?!?

Yeah, that Rush.

Above is a great shot of Neil Peart crapping all over anything you ever thought about playing on the drums.

Yeah, their stage setup and audio and visuals are great. Not to mention the haven't lost a step and are at the top of their game. It was far, far from sucking to say the very least.
(cut a little short, got the feeling security was looking a little too hard at me)
We drove home listening to this and drinking shakes from Steak and Shake.

A bit short for an album but a great record nonetheless. I slept after that, got home at 2:30am and up for work at six.
Overall, the day ruled.
