New Bars

Courtesy of Ian at Americana Speed Shop...thoughts, opinions, verbal abuse?
I am still debating on running these or narrowing the Z's that were on there and running those.

Hot Sauce of the Week

Bacon Hot Sauce-what can I say? If it is bacon, it has to be good. Actually, that is a lie. I got my hands on some bacon flavored jelly beans a while back and they were garbage. This sauce didn't impress me on the first go round but I put it on something that already had an established flavor which was a mistake. My wife makes awesome baked wings. She graced me with some this week and I threw this on a couple naked ones  and bam-bacon flavored hot wings! I might just cook some bacon this weekend so I can put bacon flavor on my bacon.

Another one from Mom.

Hot Sauce of the Week

Boar's Head Jalapeno Pepper Sauce-there is something about this one that I really enjoyed and can't quite put my finger on. The red jalapeno may have something to do with it. The sauce has a good consistency and tastes a bit like a spicy cocktail sauce. Next time I get my hands on some shrimp or any seafood really, I know what sauce I am reaching for.

This one was under the tree for Christmas. Thanks Mom!

Somewhere in New Mexico

Taken several years ago on the road to California...we spotted the ruins and stopped and explored for about an hour. Storm clouds were looming as they had been most of the trip. We got a little wet when we left but it was worth stopping. Not stopping for something like this would defeat the point of being on the road...

Hot Sauce of the Week

Bomb Laden Mad Blast Habanero Hot Sauce-in conjunction with the nationwide release of Zero Dark Thirty today, I thought I'd give this one it's due. A little weak for a habanero sauce, still has the classic hot sauce flavors but nothing to write home about. I won't say more, I'll let the label speak for itself..

"Load up and set your sights on Osama Bin Laden, then aim and BLAST AWAY! This hot sauce will BURN his BUNS and set his cave-hiding BUTT on FIRE! Once all hot sauce fire eaters get heated up, all terrorists are fair game"

New Toy

1987 Original Release Double Dragon Cabinet...in original working condition, less the monitor that was damaged in delivery. Otherwise, all of the insides are intact. This was Taito's classic Jamma cabinet and has a ton of cool features. During the Golden Age of Arcade Gaming there were huge numbers of new games being released and swapping out the big cabinets became a hassle for arcade owners. This cabinet was the answer. At the bottom there is a drawer that houses the printed control board (PCB) that has the game data on it. It unlocks and slides out giving ease of access for changing out game PCB's. This was so an owner could get the new PCB, a new marquee and control overlay and have a new game at a fraction of the cost and hassle. The monitor housing also rotates 180 degrees without tools for games that use a vertical orientation. The Double Dragon monitor bezel is also dual sided with the opposite side matching the original Taito graphics from the side of this cab that have long been painted over.
My plans are to take the guts out and replace them with a working PC loaded with 100's of Classic Games. I've already started formatting the pc. Soon I'll get the new controls and begin the hardware conversion. I'm stoked, this thing is going to be a classic gaming beast.

Last Ride of 2012

So it wasn't really as much of a ride as it was a chance to hang out with Brandon a bit more before he headed back to the Land of the Rising Sun. It was cold as Hell on the way there and the way back. All the same, there is always a good time to be had at the Dojo. Brandon assured me, when you can't ride for 6 months at a time, a ride of any length is awesome.
Nick was there working on his pan and took it for a spin around the block. There are still issues to be sorted out but he's getting very, very close.
Brandon has mad trampoline and beer drinking skills.

It was good just to stand around and bs. I'm looking forward my first ride of 2013. That said, I really need to stop being lazy and change the oil on my Sporty...

Hot Sauce of the Week

Blair's After Death Chipotle-just like every other Blair's sauce I have ever tried, this one is seriously hot. If a label says things like "use sparingly" and "keep out of the reach of children," you better listen. With four different peppers plus pepper extract, this is serious business. The chipotle flavor is strong and it makes for a good experience. Seriously though, go easy with this one.

Special thanks to our recent guests Erin and Azi who picked up the Blair's sampler pack for me. Excellent choice and many thanks again!

Home for the Holidays

This guy came by on his holiday back to the states to pick up one of his bikes to ride while he was in town. We shot the breeze over beers for a bit. Bad weather was threatening and a clock was ticking so we had to cut it a little short.
"Hey...take a picture of me leaving and if it's cool enough, put it on your blog."
Nudge nudge, wink wink...great stuff buddy.
